In this study different mixtures of disposable ores and ore concentrates were added to the first stage and their effect on the yield and quality of the product oil from the first and second stages was investigated. There are potential advantages to two-stage coal liquefaction over the direct liquefaction of coal in a single stage in terms of product selectivity and quality, and reduced catalyst ageing.
